Doug Di Franco is a veteran sound designer and music producer. He pioneered the art of digital sound mixing and is known for his groundbreaking work in television advertising.

 Doug has produced sound for nearly every entertainment brand and has contributed to numerous network launches, advertising campaigns, TV promos, trailers and television shows. He has worked with many notable personalities including Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray, Clare Danes, Spike Lee, the Beastie Boys, Dizzy Gillespie, Rick Rubin, Samuel L. Jackson, Liam Neeson, Glenn Close, Jon Stewart and James Earl Jones.

 Doug’s interest in sound began early on. At age 5, he became fascinated by tape recorders. At age 9, he interviewed strangers with a reel-to-reel tape recorder. He began visiting New York sound facilities as a teenager and landed his first studio job at age 19.

 Over the past four decades, Doug has held positions at several of New York City’s premier sound facilities including National Video Center, Superdupe, Clack Studios, Creative Group, McHale Barone and The Audio Department.

 Early in his career, he helped define the distinct sound of MTV and Nickelodeon. He frequently collaborated with the first generation of MTV’s innovative on-air promotions department and contributed to many of the network’s cutting-edge shows including MTV Sports and Mark Pellington’s Buzz.

 In 2001, he teamed with HBO to create the signature sound for the Band of Brothers miniseries website with Chris McCumber producing before he moved on to head USA Networks.

 In addition to his work for television, Doug is half of the duo of pioneering hip-hop producers known as “Double Dee and Steinski.” The pair achieved notoriety in the early 1980’s for the "Lessons” series, a collection of underground hip-hop collages constructed from samples of popular music and clips of dialogue from instructional records, newscasts and movies. They’re often cited as having a major influence on many contemporary artists such as Fatboy Slim, Coldcut, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, The Avalanches and Girl Talk. In 2002, they opened live for DJ Shadow, performing at New York’s historic Roseland Ballroom, and later shows at Irving Plaza, and Highline Ballroom.

 They are still active and have released new work as recent as August, 2020.
